One way that CopyMinder can assist you in charging for upgrades to your software is to put the version of your application in the Features parameter (you will need to use the API protection method).  Your application can then check the Features value and only run if it is greater than a certain value.  When they have paid for the upgrade, you can just set the Features value on the CopyMinder web site.
