Increasing numbers of organizations are moving some of their servers to Azure and using it to run CMServer to server network licences to remote clients. This configuration works correctly and we have done prolonged soak testing to confirm.
When configuring the virtual machine in the azure management portal you must remember to allow the port used by CMServer to be used for inbound connections. See the "Networking" section for the relevant virtual machine to change Inbound port rules. This is separate from configuring the Windows Defender Firewall inside the operating system on the virtual machine
